Bishop Auckland and the surrounding area has a wide selection of places to eat and drink, ranging from the popular Fifteas Vintage Tearoom, to traditional pubs and cafés.

 

Wolsingham has a café, an Italian restaurant and a Chinese takeaway. If you feel like travelling further afield, the local cities of Durham and Newcastle offer varied dining and entertainment.

If you want a huge choice of shops, the Gateshead Metrocentre is a 40 minute drive away, or jump on the train at Bishop Auckland and have a day out in York, Newcastle, or Durham, all accessible in just over an hour.

If you want to shop for gifts or antiques, Bishop Auckland's Bondgate has some interesting shops and the market town of Barnard Castle is a great place to browse antique and vintage shops.
